Vega-Barcelona

Vega Barcelona Cava

DO Cava – Spain

Wine description
One of Europe’s most cosmopolitan and exciting cities is the inspiration behind this stunning Cava. Vega Barcelona has proved a hit with young wine drinkers looking for a stylish alternative to the famous Cava brands.  Vega Barcelona Cava is produced by Covides, one of the area’s best bodegas.  It is bottle fermented and is an affordable and satisfying alternative to champagne.

Winemaking
Covides owns 3,000 ha of vineyards in the Cava DO, so the winemakers have ample supplies of top quality grapes. At the winery, the first fermentation is in stainless steel for 7 to 10 days at temperatures controlled at 16 to 17 degrees. The second fermentation is in bottle in the champenoise method using selected yeasts. Then the wine is aged in bottle for a minimum of 18 months.

Tasting Notes
It is a pale yellow colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is notably fruity with a clear hint of apples and the palate has plenty of sweet fruit and balancing acidity.  Drink on its own as an aperitif or is a great accompaniment to a variety of dishes including seafood paella and poultry dishes.
